Hello, I'm Sophia
I work as a project manager. I'm a parent. An expat currently based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually became a new chapter of my life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a work opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complicated than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning on the job. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Opal Meadow Ring
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourism content. What was lacking was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in Netherlands.
